CONQUEST OF SPACE, 1955

Original U.S. 3 Sheet poster 41"x81"

"See how it will happen in your lifetime!" The film - by 'War of the World's' George Pal and Byron Haskins - was based on two non-fiction books: 'The Conquest of Space' (1949) by Willy Ley - with illustrations by space artist Chesley Bonestell, who worked on the film as well - and Wernher von Braun's (1952) book 'The Mars Project'.

£1000.00 linen backed and conservation framed.

SAUL BASS, 1961

Original 10"x8" United Artists still.

original 1982 Blade Runner U.S. 1 Sheet poster, John Alvin signed

BLADE RUNNER, 1982

Original U.S. printed International 1 Sheet poster 27"x41".
Art by John Alvin.

Genuine original 1 Sheets on 'Blade Runner' are far scarcer than widely realised. A proliferation of fakes (of the Insert poster as well) - some dating back to shortly after the film's original release - make it a minefield poster to buy, even from otherwise knowledgeable sources.
This example is not only 100% original, but is the even scarcer International release 1 Sheet, without the U.S. rating box and National Screen Service code.

original 1982 Blade Runner 60x40 US poster, John Alvin signed

BLADE RUNNER, 1982

Original U.S. 60"x40" poster.
Art by John Alvin.

This original card stock 60"x40" poster is extremely scarce (the 60"x40", like most of America's traditional film poster formats, was being phased out at this time). A spectacular showcase for John Alvin's classic future-noir artwork, it is rarely offered for sale. This example is particularly special, as it is signed by artist John Alvin himself (who died in 2008), the only example of an original 'Blade Runner' so signed we've yet seen.

THE RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER, 1975

Original 30"x13" Australian daybill poster.

After a gap of eleven years, Blake Edwards and Peter Sellers reunited for the third of the Pink Panther films. Perhaps against the odds, the result did not disappoint. Master animator Richard Williams ('Who Framed Roger Rabbit') created the bravura title sequence.

Sold - please check again for availability.

original b&w 1967 portrait still Warren Beatty Bonnie and Clyde

BONNIE AND CLYDE, 1967

Original Warner Bros 10"x8" still.

Easy Rider is often cited as Hollywood's 1960's revolution, but it was Bonnie and Clyde that led the way. Director Arthur Penn: "The walls came tumbling down after Bonnie and Clyde". Producer and star Beatty's gamble paid off, becoming one of the most powerful figures in Hollywood. Excellent condition.

Sold - please check again for availability.

original 1984 daybill poster Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM, 1984

Original 27"x13" Australian daybill poster.

This artwork is quite scarce, being found only on the daybill and the UK reviews poster. Both Lucas and Spielberg were and remain ardent fans of traditional poster artwork in the teeth of the increasing use of photography. Excellent condition.

£325.00 linen backed and conservation framed.

original 1968 US 1 sheet poster The Thomas Crown Affair

THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, 1968

Original U.S. 27"x41" 1 sheet poster.

The late 1960s and early 70s saw a modern graphic sensibility at work on many U.S. film posters that was lost as the decade progressed. This bold image for the slick McQueen star vehicle is a notable example. Good condition.

£350.00 linen backed.

original 1973 U.S. 30x40 poster High Plains Drifter

HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER, 1973

Original U.S. 30"x40" poster.
Art by Ron Lesser.

Born in New York, Ron Lesser created five posters for Eastwood's films. 'High Plains Drifter' (Lesser's personal favourite) was one of the finest film posters of its era.

Printed on deluxe card stock, 30x40s were printed in far smaller numbers than the paper One Sheets and normally only for major releases.

Sold - please check again for availability.

original 1960 The Man with The Golden Arm U.S. insert poster

THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM, 1960 RE-RELEASE

Original U.S. Insert poster 14"x36".
Design by Saul Bass.

Bass's campaign for the film was a landmark in modern graphic design. Elmer Bernstein's hard-edged modern jazz score was equally groundbreaking and influential. This version of the poster design was nicely reworked for the 1960 re-release. Note stamp from further 1965 re-use, a year in which Sinatra had three new films out.

Sold - please check again for availability.

original 1951 Strangers on a Train insert poster

STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, 1951

Original U.S. Insert poster 14"x36".
Design by Bill Gold.

Brilliantly adapted from Patricia Highsmith's 1950 novel, this was Hitchcock's personal favourite of his films.

An early design by Bill Gold, who became head of poster design at Warners in 1947.
This is a fine example of the Insert poster, with strong original colours.

Sold - please check again for availability.

ALIEN, 1979

Original Turkish poster 26¾"x39".

Unlike all other first release posters this features the discovery of the mysterious 'Space Jockey' by the crew of the Nostromo (here for scale played by Ridley Scott's and cinematographer Derek Vanlint's children).
